t u n e s d a y // avett brothers

In honor of the ACL Lineup just being released, I thought it would be a fun idea to try and listen to every ACL artist these next few months...okay maybe not every artist, but I think it would be a fun idea to try! Although I have already been a fan of the Avett Brothers for a while now, I couldn't help but squeal when I saw their name this year. My sister and I are such fans, we even bought tickets to see them at Red Rocks this summer in Colorado.  I honestly can't wait! Between their facial hair, banjo pickin' and raw lyrics, it's hard to find a reason not to love them

Some of my favorites of theirs include

Summer 2014

<< s u m m e r>>

It's a time to travel, and explore the simpler things in life.
It's a time to come out of the cold house, and into the warm sunshine.
It's a time to drink beer on porches, and laugh with your friends.
It's a time for beachy hair, and tan skin.
It's a time for tattoos to come out of hiding.
It's a time to ride bikes, and make iced tea.
It's a time to explore nature, and swim.
It's a time for road trips, and music festivals.
It's a time to dance under the moon, and look at the stars.
Summer.
It's a time to be young, wild & free.

c o l o r a d o

I know it's a little late, but I wanted to share a few pictures from my most recent trip to Colorado. While up there my boyfriend, Spencer, surprised me with a trip up to Leadville for some dog sledding! And let me tell you, this was possibly the best day of my life. I am such a dog lover, and this adventure was right up my alley. Not to mention, it was such a beautiful day outside...although it took my Texas skin a little getting used to. We booked our day trip with a company called, Alpine Adventures Dog Sledding, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something fun to do while in Colorado.

This was my view for the first 30 minutes of dog sledding. Not bad, eh?

Here are all 10 of the beautiful Alaskan Huskies. Being an animal lover I always was a bit hesitant on whether or not dogsledding hurt the pups, but in all honesty these dogs truly love what they do. Right once the dogs were unleashed to do their job, it was apparent that they were excited to get to work, and be a team. It was the cutest.

This was one of the younger pups, who was a little skittish and nervous. Our guide told us that with time she will get used to interacting with people.

These two pups were the lead dogs! How cute are they?!

The tour was broken up into 2 parts, in order to give the dogs a little break. Our guide, Austin, told us that during the break the dogs like to lay down and cool their bellies on the snow. The dogs would actually eat the snow from the ground too! Since it was such a bright day outside, some of the dogs would keep their eyes closed during break times. Austin even told us there are actually some pups who wear dog goggles to help shield their eyes from the bright sun. Again...how cute is that!?

It was hard to pick a favorite pair of pups, but these two were definitely in the front running for being my favorite. Their names were Wyatt, and Jessie. They were brothers and were the last dogs tied up in the sled. Wyatt, the one on the left, was very vocal and would howl with excitement during the breaks.

Before and after our sledding session our guide would let us play with the pups and tell them thank you for all their hard work. They were all such sweet dogs. It was really hard for me to leave! I was grinning all day from ear to ear. It was shocking I didn't actually steal any/all of the dogs. This was honestly a trip I will  never forget, and I can only hope to have an opportunity to do this again!

For more information about dog sledding look at Alpine Adventures Dogsledding Website. Like I said before I would highly recommend this company to all of my friends and family. We had a very educated guide (ask for Austin!) and it was so apparent that every employee loved and cared for these sweet animals.
