Riley Necklace + Sunday Supply Co.

The Sunday Collection is all about pairing basic apparel with your favorite necklaces.
I know in previous collections, I focused on layering necklaces upon necklaces, but this time around I wanted to strive for minimalism...or Little Pieces of Hope's version of "minimalism."

I wanted the necklaces to stand out on their own, and not have to compete against other items or busy prints. To me, Sundays are all about the basics. Jeans, an over-sized top, slip on shoes, and a simple accessory to tie it all together.

Today's accessory, The Riley Necklace, is one of my favorites from the Spring Line.

If you are in the market for some basic, yet high quality tees I recommend checking out
Sunday Supply Co in Fort Collins, Colorado. How perfect is their name for our Spring Line!?

Not to mention, their boutique is truly amazing! I was so kindly shown this shop by a friend, and was absolutely blown away by its effortless beauty.

road trip

After a very long, and enjoyable Summer in Colorado I finally packed up my Jeep and headed back home to Tejas. Thankfully my kind sister volunteered to fly up to Denver, only to get back in a car for another 16 hours or so. I know, best sister award.

The day we left Colorado, it was snowing! Quite rare for Colorado this time of year, but I picked up my sister from Denver airport only to find her in jeans a t-shirt and flip flops. I couldn't help but laugh.

Since my sister was along for the ride, we agreed we would make a few pit stops along the way. The first stop, which was actually the creepiest stop was at the Ludlow Massacre Site. Not only was the site completely empty, but there was such intense fog you couldn't see half a mile in front of you. We both thought a Zombie was going to pop out at any second and that would be the end of us. Luckily, we made it out alive, and headed to my favorite rest stop in Trinidad. The past 3 or 4 times I've made this road trip, I make a mandatory food stop at Bella Luna Pizzeria in Trindad, Colorado. Such a cute historic town, with a damn good Pizza parlor.

Once we made it to New Mexico, we made another pit-stop at Capulin Volcano. Unfortunately it was such bad weather, and fog we couldn't make the drive up to the Volcano. I guess we will have to save that for next time!

After a goodnight's sleep in Amarillo, Texas we started the second day of the road trip at Palo Duro Canyon. I honestly, can't say enough about this stop because it was by far our favorite adventure. Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest Canyon in the U.S, behind the Grand Canyon of course.

Not only is the sight unbelievable, but the history behind the Canyon is so interesting and captivating. I couldn't believe something like this was in Texas!

Since we were on somewhat of a tight schedule we couldn't explore what all the Canyon had to offer, but we have quite the agenda planned for the next adventure up there.

Denver Botanic Gardens

This past Sunday was quite a day full of adventure. We (my boyfriend, his sister and myself) started the morning off with breakfast in Fort Collins, and road tripped it down to Denver to see the Chihuly Exhibit at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Dale Chihuly, born in Tacoma,Washington, is credited with revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement. It is said that he has elevated the perception of the glass medium from realm of craft to fine art. And let me tell you, I was absolutely blown away by his artwork...get what I did there ;)  I know I'm a sucker for terrible puns.

I have been to the Chihuly Exhibit in Seattle, but Denver was a completely different experience. The mixed mediums of nature, and glass was absolutely breathtaking. The Denver Botanic Gardens was the perfect place for this exhibition. My favorite parts to explore were the Internationally Inspired Gardens. I loved seeing the Scripture Gardens and the Japanese Tea House.

Even though it's safe to say we walked probably 2-3 miles around the Gardens, we all left feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated. There's just something about being among nature that is so soothing to me.

If that wasn't enough, we finished the day off at the Great Divide Brewery. It was a day full of nature, art, booze and meatball sandwiches...what more could you ask for?

running wild // inspo

The LPOH Fall 2014 Collection, Running Wild, is days away from the final debut! With each lookbook I like to show what inspired me for the collection.

This Summer I have had the opportunity to return back to Colorado, more specifically Fort Collins, and make this Summer an adventure to remember. I have traveled throughout the mountains as well as the front range, and soon I'll be packing up my Jeep and heading back home to Austin. While here in Colorado I have met some beautiful new spirits, while also being able to reconnect with some old ones. As always, these people have led me to enjoy the simpler things in live. Whether it be fresh fruit, good beer, the beauty of nature, or even the sound of laughter.

This collection is for all the girls who live simply.
The lovers, the dreamers, and the wild ones at heart.

For the remaining months of Summer, I have decided to make the trek up to Fort Collins, Colorado. Having attended college in Fort Collins, I have only known this city while being a student. This time around, it feels like a completely different ball game. I no longer have to wake up early for my 8am capstone, meet for group projects, or even cram for midterms. Instead I am able to truly soak in what Colorful Colorado has to offer.

While I am here, I am looking to collaborate with local Colorado boutiques and bloggers..this is where I need YOUR help. If you are interested, or know someone who would be interested in a possible collaboration, please message me. I would love to network and meet as many new people as I can :)

c o l o r a d o

I know it's a little late, but I wanted to share a few pictures from my most recent trip to Colorado. While up there my boyfriend, Spencer, surprised me with a trip up to Leadville for some dog sledding! And let me tell you, this was possibly the best day of my life. I am such a dog lover, and this adventure was right up my alley. Not to mention, it was such a beautiful day outside...although it took my Texas skin a little getting used to. We booked our day trip with a company called, Alpine Adventures Dog Sledding, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something fun to do while in Colorado.

This was my view for the first 30 minutes of dog sledding. Not bad, eh?

Here are all 10 of the beautiful Alaskan Huskies. Being an animal lover I always was a bit hesitant on whether or not dogsledding hurt the pups, but in all honesty these dogs truly love what they do. Right once the dogs were unleashed to do their job, it was apparent that they were excited to get to work, and be a team. It was the cutest.

This was one of the younger pups, who was a little skittish and nervous. Our guide told us that with time she will get used to interacting with people.

These two pups were the lead dogs! How cute are they?!

The tour was broken up into 2 parts, in order to give the dogs a little break. Our guide, Austin, told us that during the break the dogs like to lay down and cool their bellies on the snow. The dogs would actually eat the snow from the ground too! Since it was such a bright day outside, some of the dogs would keep their eyes closed during break times. Austin even told us there are actually some pups who wear dog goggles to help shield their eyes from the bright sun. Again...how cute is that!?

It was hard to pick a favorite pair of pups, but these two were definitely in the front running for being my favorite. Their names were Wyatt, and Jessie. They were brothers and were the last dogs tied up in the sled. Wyatt, the one on the left, was very vocal and would howl with excitement during the breaks.

Before and after our sledding session our guide would let us play with the pups and tell them thank you for all their hard work. They were all such sweet dogs. It was really hard for me to leave! I was grinning all day from ear to ear. It was shocking I didn't actually steal any/all of the dogs. This was honestly a trip I will  never forget, and I can only hope to have an opportunity to do this again!

For more information about dog sledding look at Alpine Adventures Dogsledding Website. Like I said before I would highly recommend this company to all of my friends and family. We had a very educated guide (ask for Austin!) and it was so apparent that every employee loved and cared for these sweet animals.

Colorful Colorado

Colorado...what else really needs to be said? It's always a bit nostalgic for me to come back to Fort Collins, but this weekend has been absolutely wonderful. I have been able to catch up with my old friends, visit a few tasty breweries, as well as take a few hikes in the crisp Fall air. In my opinion, there is just nothing more relaxing than walking among the mountains, watching the leaves change color and seeing what all nature has to offer. I think it's so important to take time out of our busy lives to walk among nature, and to just simply listen.
